As the ECE Special Educator at WMPSC Aurora, you will support Teacher Leaders in meeting the needs of students with special needs (from identification to intervention, assessment and reporting). This role is a 0.25 FTE position for the school year 2024-2025 with the opportunity to grow into 0.5 in the 2024-2025 school year. The nurse, in conjunction with Teacher Leaders, will support and address student health, including the process and procedures for immunizations, record keeping, vision and hearing screenings, health care plans, medication administration, and student illnesses. The nurse will also identify students with health needs requiring modifications or accommodations in the school setting or during school sponsored events and activities. WMPSC’s part-time school nurse will participate as the health expert on the response to intervention (RTI), special education and 504 multidisciplinary teams by mitigating health related obstacles to learning Exceptional Children’s Educational Act. The nurse will be trained to administer medication and first aid. This is a contracted role, estimated at 3-5 hours per month on average with more hours at the beginning of the school year for systems and record setup, with a compensation of $70-$90 per hour.
